Rogan Taylor: discretion better part of valou?/

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

In this month's Total Football, in his regular column, Rogan Taylor firstly slags off Kevin Keegan, and then says that the only way he'll ever get another job is if NUFC's plan of YBR grooming Alan Shearer becomes unstuck and 50,000 Geordies start clamouring for KK'S return. Forgive me but isn't this man supposed to be representing us rather than ridiculing us and should he be commenting on what is either private information given to him by the board or mere speculation (ie. Re YBR and AS)? Not impressed, Rogan.

As I understand it. he's only part time anyway and not even based up here.

I believe he works at Liverpool Uni, and is employed by NUFC purely as a consultant - and you know what they say about consultants!

Remind me Clarky............

Rogan Taylor isn't terribly liked by those who run our club. I heard it from the horses mouth. This consultancy job is a one off, He will not be asked to do any more work for newcastle after he submitshis report about the fans commitee.

Given that Mr R. Josh has taken over 6 months just to design a questionaire doesn't fill this punter with a pile of confidence.
Call me a cynic (don't bother Screach!), but I thought it might have a slightly higher priority than this.

BTW Screacher - there are consultants, damn consultants, and plain lies. A consultant is someone who steals your watch and then asks you what time it is.

Sorry for the delay in replying Clarky. I couldn't find a watch. From your comments, I guess you've met Mr Andersen and his chums.

As for Rogan Taylor, he's hardly set the Toon alight. I'm not sure what the board of NUFC actually think/thought they were getting. Let's at least hope he hasn't damaged our PR standing. At least that could be regarded as a positive move. Why can't common sense prevail? Cheap/free tickets for bairns at WC matches would be a great start, and doesn't require a 5 figure sum to work out.

Don't get me going Screacher!!
Appointing a consultant to resolve the PR problem won't work - handing over a problem like this to a consultant NEVER, EVER works.
First of all you have to recognise and accept your own part in creating the problem, and than passionately want to solve it.
You have to give it your personal attention - and excluding David Stonehouse from this criticism - I'm not convinced the rest of the Board feel it is all that important.
Having said that, I see some early signs recently that things might finally be changing for the better.

Clarky - I think you should work as a consultant for NUFC! What are you thinking about as evidence of an improvement? I actually thing Shep did a good job for the fans by not allowing YBR to talk to the FA.

Screach -freezing ST prices for next year, agreeing to reduce prices of empty seats and buying Wor Jackie's medals are good signs. Thi sbig letter to ST holders re fans' committees looks good, too.

Ah well, I'm not privvy to information like that last bit Doug ;-) What does it say? Shall I apply?
