What do you like to do when it rains?

I used to like to... well, it involves two people and usually takes place on a bed. But it's been so long since I've done it I'm not even sure what it's called these days. Still, though, thunderstorms turn me on.

Sleeping is good. And renting movies from Blockbuster, and looking at old yearbooks.

I used to like to sit out on the deck under the overhang and watch lightning. Who cares if it's dangerous. Last time we had a major t storm it was upgraded to a tornado warning and I spent it in the basement watching through the tiny window.

The kids and I made Halloween cookies today. I ate too much dough. I feel sick now.

Shelly, do you like the dough better than the cookies?

I like watching corny movies or reading. Or listening to CDs. Or standing in my doorway just looking at the rain. Or sleeping. Or making up new forum topics.

But, of course! I could write a 20 page epic on why I like cookie dough better than the actual cookie, but I don't want to bore y'all.

Reading, sleeping and taking a bath are perfect rainy day activities.

Also, watching movies, if my husband and I ever wanted to watch the same films -- which we don't. Sometimes I watch the movie I want to watch, and he falls asleep, or vice versa.

Go out walking in it. I love the splash of the rain on the streets. I like the smell. Especially at the beach or in the mountains among the pine trees. Being out in the desert way away from anyone is a real delight. And I really like the wind blowing like crazy. Then I like to take a long hot shower and drift away. Once, well more than once, I was in my van and it was raining really hard and it was really windy so I put on my rain gear and got out my chair and sat out in the rain and wind and watched the sun come up. It was cool. James

Lazy, sincere, love-making with the windows open followed by a leisurely nap on cool sheets.

I'm with you scrnwrt all the way (or the lack of it). Except here in San Diego, we don't even get thunderstorms. We get this piddly sh*t that makes the highways superslick because it washes the oil up, but not off.

Well, let's see. Coming from Seattle, where the last record rainfall was, I believe, 118 consecutive days of it... I've had a lot of practise. My utmost favorite thing to do when it rains is puddle jump with my kids. I would say sex, but did I mention it rains A LOT up here?

I like to cuddle up with a good cup of coffee or hot cocoa and some good magazines or books. Or I like to drive in the rain as long as the visability is okay. I crank up the car stereo and the windshield wipers are going and it's just a neat feeling. I feel very creative when it rains. Some people get depressed when it rains but I feel just the opposite. I feel warm, cozy and creative and sometimes kind of mysterious too!

I like curling up under the covers with a good book and a hot beverage. Movies are good too, as is any other sort of general laziness. Unless we get tornado watches/warnings, in which case I'm glued to the TV, remote in hand.

My oversized chair - worn yet comfy... you can sit in it sideways, curled up. It is placed by a low, overstuffed bookcase and a wall of windows. To be tucked in that chair with a sweet-smelling, soft quilt that was dried outdoors, my warm, toasty, kitty sleeping on my lap, an unread book, and the musical soundtrack from Il Postino playing very softly in the background.... Rainy day BLISS.

I like to do almost anything when it rains -- walking, reading, snoozing, cooking, art projects, watching movies. I love rainy days. Even overcast days are good, but I look forward the most to days with a good, steady fall with perhaps some drizzle periods.

I even like to camp in the rain. I have excellent wet-wood and tinder fire-building skills and there is nothing tastier than boiled, smokey coffee out of a tin mug in a downpour.

Vicki, where are you in paradise, I mean San Diego? James at the beach

Ooh, Marisa, I've got an oversized chair that's good for that, too. It's too big for one person and not big enough for two. You can sink way down into it. And it came with legs but I never put them on it because I like it better sitting down a few inches lower.
