Imagine how bad off the country must have been in comparison to Arkansas for people to have elected him in '92.

hmm, I think they were trying to get rid of Bill.

Hmmmm, Clinton was a much more likable guy. Just ask the women.

Oops went too fast on that. Also, almost 60% of the people didn't vote for Clinton.

I was referring to the US, not just Arkansas.

Hmmmm, Clinton was a much more likable guy.

Just like Bush.

Oops went too fast on that. Also, almost 60% of the people didn't vote for Clinton.

Thank God for third party candidates like Ross Perot. If more third party candidates get involved and get votes, the days when the new President automatically gets the majority vote will be long gone and your statement that 60% of people didn't vote for "President X" will be even more meaningless. Right now, polls show Bush with 46% of the vote. That means that 54% haven't decided to vote for Bush yet.

"What did Arkansas look like when Al Gore joined Bill Clinton in 1992?"

What does this have to do with Gore?

Maria, just a friendly reminder here .......... Clinton isn't running :-)

Thanks Patricia I hadn't noticed. (Well, actually I had, Gore made it pretty clear he wants to be his own man)

The point, (which I'm sure you can see but are probably saying so what), is the parallel drawn between the two states just prior to an election. An election won by a governor with a very bad record. Now Gore keeps advertising about the bad record in Texas and a governor with no national experience. Hmmm, sounds like Clinton's 1992 election all over again.

Hmm, a strong third party showing in the polls will make for some pretty interesting alliances (not directly of course). I disagree that "didn't vote for candidate X" will have less meaning. I think it will become more meaningful.
