Great Expectations

Coupled with unbridled optmism is what makes !A Mag` so different from all other fans, reading auld pit bull`s posting on my return to the puter made so much sense, one swallow does not make a summer after the Boro game is telling us all "Hey had on there, this is Newcastle Utd we are talking about, jest had yor gan". I watched the Boro tape twice, once as a Newcastle supporter and I was impressed, putting my black n white tinted glasses aside for once I viewed it again this time as Monkey Heed , looking for weaknesses , tactics , use of dead ball situations, the usual. Gleaned from the postings on the Everton game it is painfully obvious that we lack consistency week in, week out. I may be wrong, pse correct but I think it was Clarky who IMHO also spotted a major flaw down the channels, this was so evident on my second viewing of the Boro match. Friends it makes no difference if you play three or four at the back, when defending there is one big enormous space between the central defender and the left back berth, inside right channel so to speak. Anyone other than Rickard with a wee bit of pace could have made life difficult for us, and that puts most if not all EPL forwards in the frame . Bet your sweet bippy the likes of Reidy for example who were watching would be stressing -v- Newcastle, oi feckin dico-pants, get man to man with young Hughes (I rate our ron, but law of averages he will not get to all headers), get the nod, psv philipps into the channel, midfielders forget about going around them, go through them. Second point of order, why is it that we as Geordies immediatly after one performance tend to put a player on a pedestal, I used to but not now, Cordone for instance, probable been played out of position the way he checks back onto his right, At this time in his career, still developing he is easy to read but he cannot read a game. The boy LUA is the latest to hit the headlines and eternal optimists are we, that we have him marked as the biggest thing to hit toonside since the direct hit on Spillars during the real confrontation with the Jarmans. Give the kid a chance, its the unsung ones who usually come thro and prove to be the stalwarts of our club, the likes of Hughes, Caldwell, spring to mind, could be others.

Jonno nice to hear from you again but do not mention the war!!!-okay Macbeth, likewise as above, nice posting about that wee girl at your work, I never forget my roots, will always fight the workers corner, it aint done me much good in the past but I have a clear conscience. Pickin on Buff re Caldwell, Mac too many visits to RTG ,who is Sally McBeth?, my info on Caldwell is from Softie, Steph and others up here, put it this way, if Hendry had not made it, Caldwell was in the squad, my reasoning was in original posting that we tend to go overboard on expensive imports into the club, if we gave the same encouragement to the ones coming thro the ranks, it may not be a bad thing, shape of football in the future?
