I just checked the setanta schedule thingy and it has the West Ham v. Newcastle game as their game on the 28th. Normally I would be happy to see the lads on the tube but it's in London and we never win there do we. 3rd posting today I am gettin all dizzy with the excitment.

Egads. Figures...it'll probably be the first time I actually make it to the pub to see us on telly since moving and it's likely to be a cr@p match. :-(

Oh, how I hope I'm proven very wrong!! Even if we can manage a draw, I'll be satisfied. Just not another loss.

I'm in Austin that day, staying at the Amerisuite. Any idea how I might get to see the match?

Pilgrim,
try http://austin.citysearch.com/ stick in Sports Bar as the search.... then phone round when you're there. I watched Tino vs Barcelona in a place called Ruby Tuesdays on Research Boulevard (close to work but an ok place). Ask niceley and I'm sure they'll stick the game on for you I have no idea where the Amerisuite is? Is it new?

A must (and your Texan colleagues will most likely take you there) is the Oasis(http://theoasis.citysearch.com/) overlooking Lake Austin at sunset... drinking margaritas and eating Tex-Mex grub. Austin life seemed to revolve around music (live music capital of the world.... allegedly ... try 6th Street... any type of live music you want... rock, folk, C&W, Barbershop...), eating and finding the best Margarita.

You'll enjoy it.... and I'm f^*&ing jealous!!

Cheers Geordie,

I'm going on Sunday for a full week - business but probably some pleasure thrown in! Actually I think I'll be a fairly regular visitor 'cos that's where my boss is.

I'll have a Margarita and Taco for you. :o))

Setanta.com has a list of subscribers on their website, and two bars in Austin are listed:

The Ale House 512.474.6722 310 East 6th Street

Fado 512-457-0172 214 West 4th St

Fado's is a chain. The one in DC is quite good, and I hear the ones in Columbus and Colorado are as well. So that's probably a good bet.

Any idea if the Mackems match will be shown? I'm (sadly) likely to be on the wrong side of the pond that day (and for Liverpool). Might just make it into the Windy City tho', or possibly Mpls. ALternatively, if I've got any AAdvantage points left, it could be anywhere!!

Screach, put www.soccertv.com and www.setanta.com/sport/ into your bookmarks. Setanta will list the live game for the Saturday, and Soccertv lists the Foxworld stuff(Saturday tape delay and Monday Sky matches). Just click on the Foxworld link toward the bottom of the page. They usually post the Saturday choice around Weds/Thurs of that week.

Thanks for all your help on this. Now - are bars in America open at 9 o'clock in the morning?

-- Anonymous, October 21, 2000

Generally the pubs showing the games open anywhere from 5-30min prior to kick off. Call ahead to be sure, and also check for cover charges. The live Saturday match is usually around $5. There might be the same charge for Sunday. The tape delayed matches are generally free.

Thanks Ciara - no doubt I'll be asking more when I'm Stateside.
