United faithful turn small-time:-(

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

As you all know, I usually stand my ground when it comes to defending the reputation of our fans but last night's home effort leaves me little choice but to point the finger and say NO! Dunno if any of you bothered watching the game last night v's the television makers but from my lofty perch the only time the 60,000 cockney muppets from Devon :-) got it together was when we went 2:1 up and everyone joined in with "you're not singing anymore"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Errrr...but excuse me you small time shoites...PSV were singing most of the bleedin' time while 90% of you dix left it to a few of us...again. I just HATE that....part-time United shite making my toes curl and blood boil. As an act of defiance (Boy am I militant) I sat me arse down during that rendition and zipped me gob.

Thank fkuc for our away following. Leeds on Saturday will shame us I'm sure :-(

You must get a lot more corporate fans at those matches LR. The husband of one of the secretaries here went last night and I know he is not a real fan just going for the occasion. Victims of your success again.

Didn't really seem to influence the team that much.

It didn't seem that bad on Sky, LR.
In fact, I thought it sounded fairly boisterous during the first half: then went dead in the second half, when to be fair the game became pretty turgid, and then picked up again after the 2nd goal went in.
I'm afraid it's an unfortunate fact of life these days that there's a whole new generation of people attending games who are simply specatators rather than fans as we recognise the meaning of that word.

But the thing is that THESE corporates and cling-ons and execs as well as the old-time fan who has forgotton how to sing DID get it together for that one brief moment....but the hypocricy in the choice of song was a bit smelly... ;-)

I know exactly what you mean LR....and don't let anyone on here tell you we're that different cos at home we're not!

I know Gav....done enough grounds during the old days to remember what a hostile home crowd looks and sounds like....not come across one if years. Leeds of old used to freak me out...just like United Road Paddock at our house used to do too. Sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
