Poe genrally favored short verse. His real long ones seem a mish mash of shorter poems. His sonnets(eg. Science) aren't really his best unless you count To Helen(short one). He was more experimental with rhyme and repetition(The Raven, The Bells, El Dorado, Annabel Lee)Some freer verse: the Longer To Helen, The Coliseum. He despised epics and narratives for diffusing the poetic spirit with quantity rather than quality, and losing the singular effect. There is some story line in some of his poems(The Raven, Annabel Lee, El Dorado)but the effect wedded to music is everything.
