Thanks and more FT-1 questions

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Konica 35mm SLRs : One Thread

Thanks for suggestions for trying E-Bay. I got a perfectly good X-24. I'm new to photography again (my X had the FT-1 for 15 yrs). Iam looking for a 80-200mm zoom. Is there any new ones being made that are light and compact like the new auto focus jobs? If not, what older Konica model is good. What kind of prices should I pay for new or used? Thanks again everyone. Oh, before I go, my wife has an old Pentax AF-280T that was working. Iam pretty sure the capacitor died. Is it worth trying to sell it as is or fix it and s

Zoom Lenses

Hello Richard, and others.

I'm a newbie to this site, but a Konica SLR enthusiastic from way back.

If you were in Australia I would suggest you look at http://tallarookcameras.homepage.com/ - he's a Konica enthusiast and subscibes to this list. I have bought a couple of items from him and found him honest and reasonable. It could be, with the Australian Dollar the way it is, it could be good value where-ever you are!! There's a Hexanon 80-200 just listed on the site.

On another note, I've had a TC with a lazy meter, which seems to have come good with exposure to really bright light. I don't know if it's a permanent fix or not yet. Has anyone experienced this?

All the best.

zoom lens

Thanks Vere, I'd resisted the urge to promote my site here, it could get messy if everyone did it!!

On the zoom lens, there's plenty of dealers who have suitable lenses, Hexanon are great, third party ones are cheaper, with some very good. i'm a fan of Tamron adaptall, well made and long lasting with good quality optics, especially the SP models. The adaptall mount is also very handy, letting you use the one lens on a number of different make of bodies. It also gives you a wider market if / when you decide to sell it at a later time. The main thing is not so much the cheapest price, but use a reputable dealer who will back his product. This goes doubly when purchasing by mail order.

cheers
