from SKY SportsSHEARER ON FAST TRACK TO ENGLAND JOB
Alan Shearer is being moulded into Englands youngest ever manager on a specially designed coaching plan. The Football Association is grooming the Newcastle striker who quit his England playing career to concentrate on club football - on a new programme that aims to develop a glut of top-level coaches for the future.
The FA want Shearer, an ardent supporter of former England boss Kevin Keegan, to work alongside the next national manager, with a view to eventually graduating into the position himself.
Weve just arranged a programme with Alan so that beyond his playing career he has a big future in management, confirmed FA technical director and temporary England boss Howard Wilkinson.
Its a question of bringing in proper measures to make sure they have the best training possible.
We have now got an emerging generation of English professional footballers who actually think that if theyre going to make it then they need to get qualified.
The former England striker who scored his third Premiership goal of the season against Newcastle on Monday - has four years remaining on his England contract and is currently training to become a fully-qualified coach.
