greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

I'm trying to catch up on my political reading since being absent to enjoy the LV experience, and I ran across this one. I saw a lot of flaws in the site, as in they didn't proofread to my satisfaction, but I'd be interested in what y'all think. I'm playing Devil's Advocate on this one. I throw out the bait, and y'all respond.

What do ya think about this site?

I posted that one quickly, and I saw something at the bottom that I want to check. Please ignore this post while I look at what happens.

Save the criticism of ME

Anita:

So now you are an apologist for Gates and company. Have you tried to run that OS?

Best wishes,,,,

Z:

What this site has to do with Bill Gates is beyond me. My software is Microsoft all the way, from operating system to application software. To ME, I've gotten my money's worth. I experience failures very rarely. Could you elucidate? I have NO IDEA what the site I posted has to do with Bill Gates.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), October 16, 2000.

Anita,

The reference to Bill Gates was a play off your title. ME as in Windows ME, the upcoming version of Windows. Nothing to do with you or your site reference.

But I do wonder about all those copies going to Diane. Seems like someone with a grudge.

Excellent site Anita! The McCain thing is cute too... sending SOS by eye-blinking - LOL!

Gov. Bush's office ignored murder confession

Two and a half years later, the two men convicted of the crime still sit in prison.

- - - - - - - - - - - - By Alan Berlow

Oct. 13, 2000 | On Feb. 25, 1998, the office of Texas Gov. George W. Bush received an extremely unusual letter. Handwritten in curly script across the top of the first page, just above the salutation -- "Dear Governor Bush Sir" -- were the words "RE: Murder Confession."

In the four-page letter its author, Achim Josef Marino, a 39-year-old state prison inmate serving a life sentence for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, described how he had "robbed, raped and shot" 20-year-old Nancy DePriest at a Pizza Hut in Austin in October 1988. Marino explained that at the time of the murder "I was insane," and that since then he had undergone a "Christian conversion" and "spiritual awakening" and was fully prepared to be executed for killing the young woman.

Perhaps most startling about Marino's letter was his assertion that two innocent men were serving life sentences for a crime he himself committed. "Governor Bush Sir, I do not know these men nor why they plead [sic] guilty to a crime they never committed," Marino wrote, "but I tell you this sir, I did this awfull [sic] crime and I was alone."

Thanks for the explanation, Jim. I hadn't heard about ME as an operating system. I just wanted to head off any "shoveling shit" comments.

The site was of interest to me in that it was put up by a Republican. I was hoping for input from Republicans as to how they saw the author's viewpoint, as well as input regarding some of the sublinks provided there. Lars: Are you game for an appraisal?

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), October 17, 2000.

Jim:

Thanks.

Anita:

I think it stands for Millennium Edition although some wit has dubbed it as More Errors. Since it is also displayed as 2000/ME, 2000 More Errors has also been used.

I read the link. As a non-Republican, I am not a designated commenter. :^)

I'll leave that to Lars and others.

Best wishes,,,,

Anita:

While not commenting, I might point out that there is another view on Bush and the election. See:

Godly View

Read it and see what you think.

Anita,

As soon as I reached the so-called "Comparison Chart" I decided that this site is either a joke or run by a nincompoop.

"As soon as I reached the so-called "Comparison Chart" I decided that this site is either a joke or run by a nincompoop."

Unk: I'd already said the site was put up by a Republican.

Z: I see you enjoy Betty Bowers as much as CPR does.

LOL.

I am not so sure I believe that the guy is REALLY a Republican. Kind of like that site "Jews for Hitler".
