Pilot injured in helicopter crash BAGGS, Wyo. (AP) - The pilot of a helicopter that crashed in southern Wyoming was listed in stable condition at a Salt Lake City hospital. Carbon County Sheriff Jerry Colson said Patrick Nolan, 47, of Marysville, Utah, was injured when his helicopter crashed about 13 miles west of Baggs on Tuesday morning.

Nolan had been taking supplies to an oil and gas exploration site in a large helicopter capable of hauling seven tons of material, Colson said. A witness told authorities the aircraft hovered about 100 feet off the ground before crashing.

Authorities suspect engine failure is to blame for the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board plans to investigate.

Nolan, who was alone in the aircraft, was extricated from the wreckage by firefighters.

Nolan's condition was upgraded from critical to stable Wednesday evening at the University of Utah Medical Center.
