Looks like the doomers were right

NASDAQ down 42% for the year...

Oil prices at 21 year high...

Terrorism and war gripping the world...

Anyone besides us doomers get the feeling its only just begun?

Has the orchestration begun?

And Y2K-related computer problems have had absolutely nothing to do with the geo-political problems....

-- Ken Decker (kcdecker@att.net), October 12, 2000.

The world has always had its ups and downs. No one disputes that. Are you saying that we are at rhe END? Are you saying that y2k is behind current problems? Are you ready to commit suicide?

-- (Paracelsus@Pb.Au), October 12, 2000.

If the DOW levels out at 800....

If oil stays under $40 a barrel...

If no nuclear or biological weapons are used in the ensuing Gulf War...

we will say we avoided a catastrophe...this time...

PS. - Remember, most doomers felt like Y2K would be the catalyst that caused an already vunerable system to collapse...

On the contrary, most Doomers felt y2k itself would bring our systems down. Only when it became clear y2k had no such effect did the "catalyst" theory take hold, but when no y2k bugs caused anyone any particular grief, even that theory evaporated.

By now, your position is amusingly quaint. Kind of like first predicting blackouts from solar flares, and when no flares happen, "deducing" them when you trip over your TV power cord and yank it from the wall. One wonders if you are even able to fool yourself with this.

"We will see" just has to be CPR. We'll be OK if the Dow doesn't go below 800. Yeah, right.

Don't worry.......................Be Happy!

No! keep worrying. Friday the 13th hasn't arrived yet...one more day, then...

I'm listening to "The Doors", and the song that happens to be on is "Let it Roll"." Yeh, let it roll, roll, roll, bring it on! I woke up this mornin' and I got myself a beer.......

Yeh, the doomers were right all along, glad I put my money in the safest place possible....And when all those experts said keep your money in the stock market and it's only a temporary thing...well, they all look like they had just ate a piece of dog crap today!!! BAWWWHHHAHHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Andy oh Andy, GOLD WAS UP A WHOPPER TODAY!

Friday the 13th gonna be BLACK FRIDAY.

-- GEM (global@economic.meltdown), October 12, 2000.

Sure am glad I don't have any noticeable funds tied to the market. Born poor, but hope to have enough for retirement. Jesus! it must be horrible to have to keep watching each and every market! You folks, are nuts. I don't care what mansion you inhabit, today. It is not worth it.

-- Share Cropper (Farmer@will.com), October 12, 2000.

Too many things to consider, easy to get worked up. For one..the NASDAQ has been grossly overvalued...100 times earnings...while the DOW is around the mid 20's. Many people made money sitting around playing. Who cares? It is overvalued, any any intelligent person knows it wil correct itself. The ones who made gains on paper will lose them. The old rule of work to eat still will apply.

The middle east? A volatile situation that could easily explode. For sure...religion and it's mixing in politics will aggravate a situation and make the world a less safe place. And when people worry about American lives...and forget people all over the world are dying...over 1 billion are going to bed hungry at night...give me a break.......the political rulers play the people like pawns...the Bible aptly portrays all governments as beasts...and they are....they pound on the masses....and devour them...if this offends some of you, I certainly understand. But I am weary of the wars and rumors of wars. Isn't this what the Bible prophesied? Do you all not see where we are...and that the whims of these nations is not the real issue?

The US stock market has been so historically stable during the month of October, too...
