Clare Short in Borneo car crash

Government minister Clare Short has been in a car crash in a remote part of Indonesia. It is not known if she has been hurt.

The accident happened in West Kalimantan province on Borneo island when the International Development Minister, accompanied by envoy Richard Gozney, was on her way to the provincial capital Pontianak, 420 miles northeast of Jakarta, Antara said.

State news agency Antara reports that two people were slightly injured, without identifying them or their nationalities.

British Embassy officials and local police are not immediately available for comment.

The entourage had been inspecting a British government-funded village development project in the area, the report said.

Ms Short is MP for Birmingham Ladywood.
