Bonjour mes amis

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Bonjour,

After three months in France learning French, I'm now up and running at work with internet access, and starved of toon news. I've just spent the morning reading all the threads, and it's good to see that the BBS is still going strong.

This year will be my first Christmas in the Golden City since I was three, so hopefully I'll be able to catch up with all the old faces.

It didn't look too sharp in the photo I just saw.

I'm not sure whether I'll get over before Christmas or not. I didn't go too well inthe last contest we had. I should stick to the curry. Anyone fancy a phal?

No. I'm now living in France. At least for the next few years.

I'm not having a curry eating contest with you.....Screach and Geordie count themselves as curry monsters I believe??? but I'd still bet on you without a seconds hesitation....

I'm not currently in curry training mode - it's all the fine food and wine over here. And the pastis is pretty good as well. I think there is just the one curry restaurant here. I may have to resort to home training.

there you are! Wondered what happened to you. France? Last i heard you were still at Leicester train station - or was it on the floor in a curry restaurant with Gav...i can't remember...;))

So you go there and i come all the way over here. Question: Where do you watch the live games in Auckland?

Are you in NZ for a long time, or just for a holiday. If you are there for work, it's worth getting Sky TV, as they show 2-3 live Premier League matches each weekend, obviously around 4am. They also show some European games, the Champions League (3 matchs every match day), and have a one hour highlights package every week. Any pub with Sky will show the games - The Immigrant (an Irish Pub) in Fanshaw Street is probably your best bet.

Cheers KT.

Yeah - i was looking at getting digital - have to check cost etc - doesn't look too bad i don't think...

I'm here for a year for definite. First Friday here i went to The Immigrant and a lass [must've been all of 16] said to me: "dance, or get out" - great place......Reminded me of back home....

Murphy's Bar was a laugh - McEwan's on tap. I don't even know a pub in London with McEwan's on tap...

BTW:

Wellington just stuffed Auckland 46-19 at Eden Park...

Fantastic! Everyone in NZ hates the Auckland team. It's just a shame that Otago have been playing so badly this season. The atmosphere at most rugby games in NZ is pretty poor, except for Carisbrook (Otago's home ground in Dunedin). It's well worth a visit if you get down that way and there is a game on.

ha ha! ; ))

I'm going along to one of the games in the near future - probably get to a Soccer Kingz game as well - season starts on Sunday. Before that, they've got ricky Martin at the Ericsson Stadium tomorrow night - can't sell any tickets...heh-heh...;))

You're off to see Ricky Martin.....I always knew you was a bender min.....
