I've noticed that a lot of people like to label things they just put on the web as "new." However, this label seems to lie there during the months and years, until the next time they update the page (if they ever do).

When I was maintaining a webpage for a game, I started putting dates next to links, instead of "new" so you could judge for yourself if you had seen it.

Does the "new" label annoy anyone else? How long is a page "new"? Should I just get over it?
