First of all, I believe that you have your authors confused. This site relates to Edgar Alla Poe, whereas your question is concerning a poem written by William Carlos Williams.

Nevertheless, I shall attempt to answer your questions, seeing that I have also studied Williams, as well as Poe.

Question one: Predict where this text will normally exist?

Answer one: If you read the text closely, you will note that the author has written about "plums that were in the icebox and which you were probably saving for breakfast". This leads to the opinion that the text is in fact a fridgenote left as an explication to somebody as to why they cannot find their missing plums. Therefore, one has established that the text could be a "fridgenote" (so consequently you would assume to find it stuck to a fridge door, under a fridge magnet for example).

Summarising, the text can be assumed to exist as a quotidian (something of daily life)object, a fridgenote on a fridge, left for somebody explaining what has happened to the plums.

Question two: is it possible that this text is a poem?

Answer two: This depends on one's definition of "poem". If by "poem" one understands writing which possesses techniques like rhyme, metre, and so forth (I hazard to say a "conventional" notion of poetry) then this text cannot be a poem, simply because it does not conform with those notions employed in defining a "poem".
