I think that macrovision is embedded in the actual tv signal. It doesn't come from your card. You can check by trying to record something. If it scrambles the output, then there is likely some protection, but I don't believe the card can correct it. Most regular tv shows aren't protected but try a VHS tape or something from a rental store. If it has macrosvision, there is a program called de-macrovision that will get you past it. Check some of the DVD ripping sites for it.

Hi,

Tygrus is right. Capture card cannot have macrovision. Your tape may have macrovision.

But yes, Marvel 400 does have a macrovision hack to enable you to capture macrovision protected tape. Go to http://forums.matroxusers.com there are a lot discussion there in the Desktop Video forum. Do a search there.

What the Matrox Marvel G400 TV do at capture time is detect if the video signal is copy protected with a Macrovision scheme.

Very usual on DVDs and some Satelital TV Programs. Even on some CableTV transmitions.

But on the Matrox Marvel G400 TV is very easy to disable via software. Here you will find the files you need. They work on my system. Look for "Sun's MV-free 1.52 VTs".

Hope it helps to all Matrox Marvel users.

Thanks for the help! It solved my problem. I have 2 newer vcr's and I am unable to copy a rented tape because of the macrovision on my vcr's. But now all I have to do is plug the vcr outputs into it and then hookup another vcr to copy on the outputs "i don't even have to capture" and it get's ride of the macrovision. So now I can copy any rented video tapes right to another tape with now damn macrovision. I can copy dvd's now as well without the damn macrovision. It is alot eaiser then having to open my vcr and findout how to diable it, sloder it, or accidently break it. So I am one happy camper.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
