Being in the pacific time zone, I notice that the volume of posting is highest during the day, and usually fading off by the time I get home from work. My employer lets us use the net during our 2 15 minute breaks and lunch period, but all activity is monitored on the network server. They will warn employees if they feel that sites they are visiting are "innapropriate". Since the name of this forum includes the word "uncensored" I don't think it would be a good idea. I understand many companies even use "key capture" utilities which can retrieve every single keystroke that is entered while in use. How do you guys get away with it?

Well, of course, some of us are self employed and check the Net when bored, which means during the day. Others are college students, or house-persons, who do the same.

What would surprise me would be if most net posting went on late at night. Then I'd REALLY wonder who these people are!

With the average age of posters on this forum at around 48 years old, I doubt there are many college students. Also, with unemployment at an all-time low of 3.9%, I doubt there are many "house-persons" either. I am wondering about the people who DO post from work, if they know of any tricks to conceal their activity.

My company doesn't care what I do on-line (as long as it's not insider trading or viewing porn) so long as I get all my work done. I give them 50+ hours a weeek, they don't give me a hard time when I take stress breaks on the net or the occasional 90 minute lunch. They also don't care what I wear or what time I come in.

I had a job with net access one time that had us locked out of most of the hard drive. If you wanted email, it had to be web-based. A new job I just started, allows us full use of the net and the hard drive, on a fast T-1.

As tempting as that is, I surf work related sites only. Maybe a newspaper or two if there is a lull in work. The new guy next to me @ work has been there 2 weeks, and he's already dl'd napster, bringing a case of floppies to work. He continually asks me hacking questions -- asked me to use my burner to copy some of the software discs from work for him. He seems to have taken the job for access to their computers! Doesn't take a genius to see his days are numbered.

I come here from my home computer. While at work, I'm getting paid for company WORK. The net is a great tool for work related research.

so, no I'd never surf here from work :-) Another good question would be, "How many ppl have lost their jobs in the past from abuse of the net while at work?".

Hi.

I do 'post' alot from work. My boss doesnt have a problem with my being online providing my work gets done. It does. Bearing in mind I work for a mom/pop Insurance Agency and my Boss IS the greatest.

Sometimes he and I will 'surf' together to find comic relief. :-)

I know, I am lucky I used to work for Corporate Offices, HATED IT. WILL NEVER GO BACK.

Although the money is better there, I am HAPPIER here.
