My First Auction!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Well this Saturday I will be conducting my first Auction. I went to Nashville Auction School in 1983 but I have never done any Auctioneering since graduating.

I have attended 1000's of Auctions of all types in my life and it has always been a dream of mine to become a Profesional Auctioneer.

The pays not to good for my frst Auction, my parents volenteered my services for the Eagles Club where they are members. If all goes well maybe it will get me motivated to start my own Auction Service or maybe my own Auction Barn. Wish Me LUCK!!!

Mark, Good Luck!!!!!!!! I'm the one the auctioneers love around here as I'm always there at most sales!! Also I buy those things I really don't want for 50 cents or a dollar to keep the rhythm going for the auctioneer & keep the sale going! When the auctuioneer can't get a bid he looks to me & I bid to keep things going! I also start many things for him--it keeps the sale going & it also gets me some good buys! That same auctioneer also remembers me & what I collect! Many times he has said, Sonda here is something I think you need to take a look at! And sometimes I get that last bid, as he keeps an eye on me all through the sale I help him & he helps me! Sonda in Ks.

While you graduated from an auctioneer school, I doubt you are a licensed auctioneer. Most states require an apprenticeship under a licensed auctioneer, all called Colonels, at least in TN. While you can do something like the Eagles auction free, I suspect it would be illegal for you to do one for which you got paid if not an apprentice. Check first. Besides it has been 17 years so I suspect you are a bit rusty.

Wishing you well in your new found career. Just a quick question... and I may not want to know the answer. What is the meaning behind your email address?
