WN - World News. Two important Colombian crude export pipelines have been disabled for the past fortnight, because of a bombing campaign orchestrated by Marxist guerrillas.

Ecopetrol, the state oil company, stated that repairs were difficult if not impossible to carry out due to rebel forces and ongoing fighting in a war zone.

The gravity of the situation was addressed by President Andres Pastrana in a nationally televised speech in which he pleaded with what he referred to as "fanatical groups" to stop the attacks.
