URGENT!! Is Montresor mad or not?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

For the story The Cask of Amontillado I am supposed to construct a definition of madness. Then I have to argue whether or not Montresor is mad. It says that I may want to distinguish between Montresor at teh time of the killing and Montresor at the present.

I believe to some extent that montresor was mad, the story is about revenge... that is what he got, fortunato had insulted him many times, so i believe he had a right to get him back for what he did, but to bairey someone alivemust mean he was somewhat insane. honestly this is totally an opinion based question, however you look at the story and what you think of the characters will help you to decide the answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
