Eh? He's not serious is he?

He had better bloody not be !

Under NO circumstances should Bobby be thinking about taking THAT job again. And if he does I will be extremely pissed off with him.

He has a big enough job at NUFC without taking responsibility for the national side. And anyway, after the abuse he got all those years ago I am amazed that he would even consider it.

I'll be very angry if he goes. He better bloody not!!!!

On Radio 5 this morning Bobby was being pressed by the reporter continually regarding what he would do if the FA contacted him with regard to taking over the job. He said if they did, he would have to make a decision.

It was hardly putting himself up for the job in the manner in which he immediately touted himself for the jobs in which he currently resides. I imagine that YBR was thinking about if the FA wanted him to take over for the Finland match, after all he knows a lot about the players in England.

Rumour from Swarland Golf Club - YBR does not like the NUFC board.

It won't stop him doing the job though will it? It's not a pre- requisite for the job a long as prfessionally they see eye to eye which they seem to from the many slaps on the back they all give each other in the press.

Oh woe! Woe! And thrice woe! Please don`t let us lose Bobby - somebody tell me that they are one hundred percent certain that it won`t happen!(:o(

His statement this morning and the fact that he was one of the first managers to speak on the subject made me a little apprehensive but I am 95% certain that it is all a bit of the patriot in him and wanting to give some help, nothing else.

I#m even more confident that the FA won't approach him.

Swarland Golf Club! Well "f**k me with a ragman's trumpet"

That's that then!

What is the relevance of that golf club? Apart from being an appropriate place to play golf.

Apparently YBR appears there from time to time. As to the source: you're not doubting the word of a member of that enclave of tory values?

Bobby Robson is a man full of class and integrity. The Toon Board are a bunch of uncouth toe-rags. Why should it surprise anyone that Bobby doesn't think much of them?

What BR has said is....if I received a telephone call from someone at Lancaster Gate in the next few days, I would answer it. but that doesn't necessarily mean he would be interested in the job.....if the phone rings on my desk or in my house I would answer it as well.....it's the best way I've found to stop the the bell from ringing!

From what I saw of the news last night he and 3 others ruled themselves out. That is good enough for me.

Tony, are you sre it was YBR ruling himself out and not Freddie S ruling him out?

-- Anonymous, October 10, 2000

It was FS as far as I know. There is even a statement of the official web site stating that it is just the true gentleman character of Bobby aiming to help his country. FS says YBR is under contract and in the short AND long term he is staying.

Here we go again. As if we haven't made enough rods for our own backs. At this rate, we're going to have him out the door before he's had time to tell people where to send their Xmas cards.

For godsake folks, chill out. Long term I don't think Bobby would even be considered. Short (very short) term, why not ? As long as he can fit it in with winning us the championship.

Either way, there are enough of us paranoid wrecks from past history without triggering wholesale panic when we have nothing really to base it on.

The news item brought 4 candidates into view announcing that these 4 have spent today ruling themselves out of the position. It did come up with a quote for wor Bob, which I cannot remember, just that it was not particularly incisive.

The reasons I am not concerned are; he has nothing to prove or gain as an England manager and the FA are looking at a long term replacement.
