Plane Makes Emergency In Pakistan

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) -- A Pakistani passenger plane with 44 people on board made an emergency landing at the Lahore International Airport after its rear wheels failed to open, an airport official said on Monday.

No one was injured in the incident Sunday, but the Pakistan International Airlines propeller plane damaged a wing when it slammed into the runway upon landing, said Mohammed Tariq, a senior PIA official.

The aircraft circled Lahore for 35 minutes while the pilot tried to open the rear wheels, he said.

An inquiry has been ordered, Tariq said. The aircraft was on a domestic flight from the Punjab city of Bhawalpur to Lahore, the provincial capital.
