Lots of good sense in this extract from a Mick Wadsworth interview for Premium TV

WADSWORTH'S HOTBED OF TALENT
The mini-break in the Premiership finds Newcastle fourth in the table - a far cry from little over a year ago, when United were rooted to the foot of the Premiership with only one point from seven games.
Head coach, Mick Wadsworth remembers the events of last season and the problems facing the new management team: "The biggest task on taking over was to bring in belief and create a positive environment. We could not fall much further behind or the task would have been much greater.
"Both the manager and myself believe in creating an environment in which players plan their own route to get better. No player is too old or experienced to stop learning and if a player keeps improving then so does the team and you've created a philosophy that everyone believes in."
"One thing we have tried to be is efficient in our transfer targets and also getting players out. With the help of the chairman and Bobby's experience we feel we had a good summer and now have a neater, tidier squad.
"No disrespect, but our squad was too big last season. Some players were not contributing, not through any fault of their own but through sheer weight of numbers - and it also meant there was no room for young players to come through.
"Now what we are seeing this season that's particularly to our liking is young players coming through because there is room to progress. The boys at the Academy can see their chance. There has to be a clear route to the first team.
"This is a hotbed of talent and we have to get the best young Geordies through because you've got to have a local identity in the team. But we're also looking for the best in this country and across the world. The main thing is not where you come from, but being proud to pull on the shirt."
As for the future, Mick hopes to remain at Robson's side in the search for success: "With Bobby's age, he will not go on forever. He may do 3, 4 or 5 years, but he will know how long he wants to keep going. At the moment all we are trying to do is return the club to a more dominant position than it has been for a few years and within that we hope to build a structure that has an effect into the next management team."
