What is the best AVI codec for intermediate video file before feeding it to TMPEG Encoder for making VCD/PAL? MPEG4v2 or Intel Indeo 5.06?

What is the video size limitation for TMPEG and Panasonic Encoder? Is it only 2 GB or could reach 4 GB in Windows 98?
