It's a good thing all of our "patriotic" paranoid gun owners with itchy trigger fingers are so well prepared to defend themselves.

Man killed in police raid on wrong house

October 6, 2000 Web posted at: 12:14 p.m. EDT (1614 GMT)

LEBANON, Tennessee -- Police shot and killed a man in his home in Lebanon, Tennessee, after trying to serve a drug search warrant at the wrong house.

John Adams, 62, who, according to his family, thought he was the victim of a home invasion, fired a sawed-off shotgun at officers as they entered his home. He was killed when they returned fire.

Police apologized for the tragic mistake. The house they intended to target was next door.

It sounds like you sympathize more with the inept police than you do with the inept citizen.

Another casualty in the War on Drugs.

Cops are dumb, that is a given. The guy in this case was even dumber because he was so paranoid he must have thought they were tricking him when they yelled "Police, open up!"

His wife says the police did not answer her when she asked who was knocking on her door. She says her husband did not fire a shotgun and that he was sitting in his recliner with his cane at hand.

What is the source of your info helen? Link?

It wouldn't suprise me if that is what happened, and it should be very easy to prove. If the man fired a gun from inside the house, the evidence will show it.

Thanks cap'n.

"Investigators had cut out a large chunk from one wall in the house as proof."

Huh?? If there was proof on the wall that he shot, why did they remove it? Probably so they could take it down to the police firing range and make sure it has plenty of evidence on it.

much like the front door of the building at Waco?

Too bad he wasn't able to take a couple of home invaders with him. If this started happening, then perhaps the perpetrators might start re-thinking their strategy.

A few weeks back Police units broke into a house and shot a 11 year old boy who was face down on the floor killing him with a shot gun slug to the back. After two years of survellience the police did not know that two children lived there. They said it was a mistake...Well folks,we used to be citizens,we are now refered to as civilians,in the not to distant future we will be collateral damage. No drugs or weapons were found.Story at Modbee.com
