Assuming that I understand your chosen assignment properly, I still have serious doubts that I could be of any real assistance. However, I will make the attempt. You will, of course, forgive me, but I will need more guidance than that which has been given. As I understand, you are to play the part of a psychiatrist and you are to interview the famed 19th century author, poet and literary critic, Edgar Allan Poe as a patient.

My first question would have to be, for what purpose? What gives you cause to believe he would require the talents of a psychiatrist? What, specifically, are you after or what answers do you hope to find and/or what conclusions do you hope to prove? Without some objectives, this interview would merely be a pleasant conversation with a conspicuous absence of purpose.
