Here's a shot I made last year at Renn Fest, near Houston, TX

The girls were playing around, I didn't ask for them to pose. I have another 25 shots that didn't turn out so well .

A nicely captured moment, but I was expecting something seedier from the title.

This is a very delightful portrait that I would have been proud to take. I like how the face pops through the veil, and of course the expressions. Ren fairs are great, aren't they? I have a few, too, that I'll try to remember to scan one of these days.

I agree with Mike, and I wonder something: How much did the inappropriate (I use the term casually; it really dosn't fit the image unless you know something we don't) actually impede or affect Mike's (or my) perception of the photo? Like Alan Gibson's "Images of Photography," sometimes I think we should avoid giving titles altogether. They seem to work against the objectiveness that is sometimes needed to fairly judge images. I know... Are we here to judge? (kind of?) Do we come close to true objectiveness even without titles?

With regards to the title, it just sort of typed itself. I don't know why, and yes, the song sung by Joe Cocker (and written by Randy Newman, btw) pops into my head now when I see it.

I've thought a lot over the weekend on why I titled the picture this way. I think it may have been a subconcious attempt to get more attention than the picture would have if titled, say as 'Two Kids' or 'Renn Fest.'

BTW, the girl on the left was mine, she begged for the $12 hat. The girl on the right is a good friend of hers who we met at the festival quite by accident. They took turns being the 'Princess.'

Finally, thanks for the compliments on the photo.
