Norwegian Duo on trial

NEWCASTLE have lined up two of Scandinavia's best talents on trial as Asane duo Helge Haugen and Sindre Erstad are due to arrive at St James' Park.

However, Magpies boss Bobby Robson will not be pleased to hear that Fifa agent Berit Riise is trying to represent the players, despite the fact that they already have a representative in Knut Kristiansen.

Speaking to Norwegian newspaper Bergensavisen, Riise said: "The club has many good young players, many of them don't have an agent yet. These days it could help a 17-year-old to have an agent backing him."

Riise has been in Asane to speak with club officials about representing their players and believes that talks went well.

The agent is Norway's first and only Fifa registered female agent and Riise said: "Asane have always been great with their youth system. They are doing a very good job with the younger players, and I want to represent them."

Asane coach, Espen Brochmann said: "I only want to say that she has some very sensible thoughts on how one should go about forming young talent into good players."

Both players will play against Manchester City U19's on Saturday, after being released by their Norwegian second division A club.

Erstad is an 18-year-old defender with 18 appearances to his name whilst Haugen is also 18 but plays in midfield and has over 30 games under his belt.

I always remember that famous crack about Kristiansen and Pingel attributed to footballing jail-bird, Jan Molby - what do have BK and FP have in common? They're both crap!
BTW, like Molby they were both Danish weren't they, rather than Norwegian?

Aren't all Geordies Norwegian at heart?

Alot of Geordie dialect is actually Norsk in origin e.g. "Wam gannin hyem" is actually Norsk for "I am going home". Honest.
