Buchanan

Could someone substantiate the rumors that we so often hear that disparage Buchanan?

That is, something other than just personal attacks? I continually hear things like "hidden agenda" and anti-semetic",and "racist" but when pressed to come up with some hard evidence, the conversation ends.

Perhaps if you provide examples of these rumors that you so often hear, refutation or proof would be offered.

Personally, I think he's an entertaining interview. The man likes to laugh. I like that quality.

I get your drift, Bingo.

KoFE:

Here is one example:

Writing of "group fantasies of martyrdom," Buchanan challenged the historical record that thousands of Jews were gassed to death by diesel exhaust at Treblinka: "Diesel engines do not emit enough carbon monoxide to kill anybody." (New Republic, 10/22/90) Buchanan's columns have run in the Liberty Lobby's Spotlight, the German-American National PAC newsletter and other publications that claim Nazi death camps are a Zionist concoction.

It is easy to find dozens of documented quotes like this one. There is actually a site devoted to collecting them. It is not worthwhile to post more here. He will be looking up at 1% of the vote.

Best wishes,,,,

Z is quite right (incidentally, the deisel exhaust from the trucks killed by simple asphixiation, without having high carbon monoxide).

Another case had to do with the straw poll in Louisiana, the first event (before the Iowa caucuses even) of the Republican nomination race in '96. Only two people were entered, Buchanan and Phil Gramm of Texas. Buchanan allowed racists who were supporting him to make a big issue of Gramm's being married to a Phillipine woman. Buchanan never said a peep about this vicious campaign, which was common knowledge, until after he had won the straw poll. Then of course he deplored it.
