Welcome to the real world TM.

Foxtel do not usually show International matches. I think they only have the rights to live EPL games.

SBS may show it on the following weekend.

There is some hope though, sometimes they slip a game on at the last minute.

I normally try ringing them on Saturday to find out.

sbs.com.au I think is the website and theworldgame the link to football stories might have something.

Sorry lads just checked www.theworldgame.com.au and there are no references to SBS broadcasts.

It will probably mean no telecast in Oz at least. Sorry min cannot help with the sheep shaggers! :o0

TM if you watch World Sports on SBS Sunday and or Monday 7:30pm they may mention if they will telecast the game or highlights. They generally do this after WC games, although not only England matches. These are generally shown on Saturday afternoons on World Football.

gus,

I dunno - you'd expect more initiative from ex-convicts rigging up some scam with a satellite dish....!

How's it hanging there Rog. I was just sent the following email by Andy - you may remember him from your original night out in Easts Leagues watching the Chelsea match ?

>The casino (ie. Star City) has it, but they're pre-booked by Setanta sports for the Gaelic football final replay - I kid you not - & won't be showing it. However, all is not lost. I've spoken to Cheers bar on George Street & they will definitely be showing the game. No cover charge, no advance bookings required, but given that it's just about the only place showing it I'd recommend that anyone keen gets down there early.

I doubt I'll get there as I'm a one-team man myself (and besides I'll be getting wrecked up on the north shore Sat night), but see him in there or drop him a line on andrew.abbey@au.pwcglobal.com, or alternatively give me a bell at work tomorrow for his phone number.

PS. I'll have a look at your resume tonight and have a chat soon eh ?

PPS. How was your afternoon/night out with all those pretty little Dutch things ??

Tynedale.....you'll be even more pissed off to find out the Krauts are winning 1-0 and bliddy Harmoan scored!

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

Just on half an jhour played....pretty poor stuff ion the Pissing rain. Surface very skiddy, ball coming off it lilke a flaming rocket.

Harmoan scored from a 25 yard free kick after about 15 minutes......free kick given, almost dead straight on goal, nop bugger stands in the way while they set the wall. Harmoan steps up and hits a skimmer straight past Spunky's desperate dive to his left.

The conditions are beating both side so far, the 'fouls' that are going in look a damn sight worse than they are because of the amount of slide on the pitch.

BBC website says he got the kick off before England got their wall organized. You at work, ITK? Does it look that bad so far?

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

I am at work Ciara.....it is pretty awful so far from both side.....the Krauts are better set for the conditions......with the ammount of rain on the pitch their dives are getting 6.8's and 6.9 marks.

Sport ala south of England not good today......Matchplay Golf at Wentworth rain off so far (hoping to get out at 3.45) Ascot racing abandond because of a suspect package in the Grandstand.....England losing at Wembley.....what the hell else can go wrong.

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

LOL, ITK. But are the Germans ripping their entries? Mega points deductions if there's too much splashing, you know. (Yes, I watched way too much of the Olympics).

Thanks Ken for what's it's worth. still trying to find a feed that works, not sure if the internet cafe stuff is shit.

Half Time - England 0 - 1 Germany

Pretty poor first half which was primarily won by the conditions. Continual rain is adding zip and spice to the surface.

The Krauts probably just about deserve to be in the lead, although Tony Adams very nearly equalised three minute before the break with a rocket header. The keeper just managed to holdn it at the foot on his right hand post.

Andy Cole is working bliddy hard on both sides of the pitch, but not getting much service. Beckham had three cross field balls in the half, one went out, one went to a German and the other was barely controlable by Le Saux (so what's new there then)

I can't understand why KK is playing Southgate in midfield....he looks out of touch.

Le Saux has had a couple of good runs down the left, but seems to get lost in the last third of the pitch and always seems to want to pass backwards. Owen is being pretty well handled.

Gary Neville coming off at half time......KIERON DYER ON!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

well to be honest this is not the first time I've ever shaken a head to KK. not to worry he'll be back....

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

15 minutes of the second half gone....England starting to take a little bit more control and starting to show some passion and fight.

Beckham just had a 30 yard scorcher tipped over the bar.

can't take any more of this Ken, I'm off, crossed bloody fingers and search for a beer.....it's 2.20am.....

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

Sounds like England is starting a bit better. Will it last, though? ;-)

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

It might be 2.20am over there but I bet its a damn sight warmer in the middle of the night there than it is in the middle of the day here.....Its bloody freezing the day......and pissing rain since last night.....hey ho winter is here.

Game gone off the boil a bit at the moment. Beckham looking good, Cole trying hard, Dyer not adding much yet, Barmpot might as well go home and let Heskey on for a bit of muscle.

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

78 minutes....Beckham screams another one just past the right hand post.......this don't look good folks.........

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

That's it.....The Germans win 1-0.......pretty much a crap game played by two crap teams and the only winner was the weather.

They can now demolish the world's biggest open topped urinal. Thank god for that.......let Shearer knock the first friggin block out!

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

Thanks for saving me the 20 bucks later tonight. However if they were to air the demolition of Wembley, I'll gladly pay to watch that!

Just hope they don't knock down Wembley and the Dell on the same day. Shearer will want first crack at both of em. ;-)

Apparently the bulldozers and cranes move onto the site at Wembley on the 5th of November. Given the date, it would be better to turn the whole place into a huge great bonfire and let everyone watch the sodding place burn down.

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2000

Sorry folks, IMHO Andy Cole was $HITE, I watched the whole game live!

Big Al was missed badly; holding the ball being one of his STRONGER points (Cole's incapable of that) - too old at 30?, Cole's only a year younger (& he's cr@p) + Bierhoff's 2 years older!

:-((

... and in conclusion we were hopeless!
I can't really agree with ITK that there two crap teams on the field - the Germans can only beat the opposition before them and IMO they were light years ahead of us in organisation and passing. Schoolboy defending cost us the goal when they all went to sleep after conceding a FK and MOTM Harmoan just belted the ball into the goal.
I don't agree either with Bud about Andy Cole. I thought he did OK given zero service, and actually felt he was one of our better players. He's now getting to understand first hand what AS suffered from.
YMO was garbage - poor touch and control thoughout, including costing him the best chance of the game, and I've had had him off well before the end.
I'm sorry to say that KK's tactical naivety let him down again with his starting selection. After the selection mistakes of Euro2000, we play well against the world Champions with 5 in midfield, and immediately revert to playing with Scholes in midfield instead of the support sriker against our biggest rivals in a WC qualifier - effectively thereby playing with 3 forwards and a weak midfield.
