Explosion report being reviewed

Justice Department officials are reviewing a report into a fatal explosion at a smelter to determine whether criminal charges are appropriate. The August 8th explosions at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting killed one worker and left 13 others injured. The report notes that during the incident, a number of workers were kept from escaping because the exits from the smelter were locked. The series of explosions started after workers hosed down a huge furnace to try and cool it down before doing some maintenance work. The report recommends that the cooling procedure be changed and that the exits be left unlocked.
