Can Tmpeg encode 3200 btr mpg1 to VCD compliant ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi friends,

I have a problem to convert my 3200 bitrate mpeg1 352x288 captured with ATI AIW128 via TMPeg encoder. When I load the mpg in TMpeg, the movie didn't show as it's normally does when I load AVI. Yet, I still encoded it using PAL VCD template, it just took me a few second and the result still 3200 bitrate.

What did I do wrong ? Can't Tmpeg encode mpg to VCD compliant but AVI file only ?

I've tried PANASONIC plug-in, and it did encode the mpg to a VCD compliant, but the quality is not as good as when I encode the AVI to VCD compliant in Tmpeg.

That's why I'm eager to know whether Tmpeg can encode mpg to VCD and wonder if the quality is better than PANASONIC.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you very much for your attention.

Sunar.

When using TMPGEnc correctly, the result is much better then Panasonic Encoder. However, speed wise TMPGEnc is much slower then Panasonic (about 2.5x slower depending on System and filters used). This software will take almost virtually any file format and convert it to VCD/SVCD standard or none standard formats. Yes it will encode mpeg1 to VCD. You need to play with the advance tab and utilize its filtering system. It will slow you down by 1x per filter used. TMPGEnc will even do the new WMV7 file and ASF without any assistant plug-ins. As long as the codecs for the file format is present in your system and the registry, TMPGEnc will encode the file for you!
