Acuna again

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

first he is..

then he isnt he's off to Manure

now he is again allegedly...after his so called agent says the story regarding Manureis bollocks and he's in negotaitions with Newcastle.

What the hell is going on and rather than the EU looking into Transfers they should be investigating the double dealing and shite stirring agents.

Bobby obviously rates this lad AND isnt he a central midfield ball winner?

I don't think that NUFC will be interested in him anymore, this agent of his is certainly tring to earn his comission. Infact he's overdoing it and I think NUFC will shy away from the player due to the interference of the agent.

Poor Acuna will beleft in limbo again all because his agent told him "trust me, i'll get you a better deal"

hmmmmm...shades of Matt Jansen all over again. Personally, i don't care who he is, what position he plays in, how good he is or how much we pay for him:

If money is more important, then he doesn't want to play for Newcastle and wear the B&W. Drop him. Give the young lads a chance to prove how good they are/can be.

We need a defensively minded midfielder and I'm sure Acuna would perform if Bobby rates him but he'll be away on International duty as much as Nobby if we're not careful, so there is no point in signing him.

That position needs to be consistent and this guy wouldn't offer consistency in terms of appearances.

That prevaricating canard, Katzav, is so full of bragadoccio. I can't belief the jactitation the guy spouts ;-))

hahahahaha end of thread me thinks hahahahah : - )))

Agent now saying that the price is around 1.4 mill pounds. Still a bargain for a player of Acuna's international experience and quality. I thought the agreed figure of 700,000 was amazing anyway!

Is it worth just paying the money and signing him?

According to Teamsquawk, the deal for Acuna has finally been done pending the granting of a work permit.

They report -
"Acuna deal done.
Newcastle have finally agreed to pay the University of Chile #1,750,000 for midfielder Clarence Acuna. The 25 year old put pen to paper on a four-year deal after agreeing personal terms, and now he is just waiting for his work permit.
The deal was in danger of collapse after Newcastle refused to meet his valuation, and there was also talk that the player's agent Ronen Katzav wanted a large fee. However, Newcastle now seemed to have ironed out the problems and Acuna will finally complete his move to St James Park
".

Curious business altogether, with initial reports saying we had agreed a fee of $1 million (#750k), Katzav then saying the fee was $2 million, and ending with us apparently paying $2.5 million. I just wonder how much of our wedge Mr. Katzav is pocketing after all?

Planet football report that the fee is $1.4 mill (around 985,000 million pounds). That agent is at dispute with U de Chile about his cut from the deal but it shouldn't hinder the deal which is only subject to a medical. Apparently Man City tried to sign him but he was only interested in joining us. Nice guy!

Katsav claims: "I do not want to appear untruthful. That bid was concrete. But Clarence did not want to play for another team outside of Newcastle and that ruined any possibility."

With the money from the transfer of Acuna, Universidad can afford to pay off some of their debt which had threatened to cripple the club.

"around 985,000 million pounds"

And a big chunk of the country's national debt.

According to the Inde... Newcastle United will be reported to Fifa, the game's world governing body, by the agent Ronen Katzav over their bid to sign the Chilean Clarence Acuna. The club's chairman, Freddie Shepherd, went direct to Acuna's club, Universidad, to agree a price for the midfielder who has arrived on Tyneside to complete the #1.4m transfer. Katzav is claiming that Newcastle cut him out of the deal after he had set it up and is using his right as a licensed agent to complain. Katzav maintains that Newcastle "knew nothing" of Acuna until he brought him over for a trial, a trip he paid by paying for his plane fare from Chile. The agent also claims that Shepherd used him to reduce the price from Universidad's original valuation of #2.3m and that the club is unwilling to pay Katzav the percentage he says he is due.

With the current passport saga going on in Seria A, I hope messrs Bassedas, Gavilan, Solano, Cordone and Acuna all have proper passports!

I assume they are okay because of the amount of travelling they have all done for their country, but in that case it begs the question, how many of them can we field at the one time?

It's an absolute disgrace the cavalier treatment being dished out to this poor bugga who's just doing his job like anybody else. Fancy going behind the poor guy's back.

On the strength of all the graft he (says he) put in engineering Clarry's move to the Toon, we should be prepared to slip him a couple of quid from the 985,000 million pounds Acuna's supposedly cost.

Perfidious Geordion once again. We should be thoroughly ashamed of ourselves.

Heh heh heh.

Pit Bill......you're evil you are....fancy laughing that the poor fella!

Cynical as well, ITK. We should take the 'live and let suffer' approach to agents and their minnions. All 985,000 million of them. :-))
