Newcastle United vs Ingerland

A question for Toon fans who support England

I was talking to a lad at the ManCity game who was going to the Ingerland match this weekend. He'd thought long and hard and said that he would be happiest with a 0-0 draw. He couldn't stand the thought of losing to the Jormans but found equally galling the idea of all the papers crowing if Ingerland win and especially if Cole/Phillips/Owen bag a few. After the stick they gave Shearer I would be happy if they never scored again. How are others going to feel about it?

And another thing, I'll be mighty miffed if Dyer plays and aggravates his knee injury.

Tricky one, 'cos we all like to see the Tuetonic Terrors get their Sauerkraut stuffed up their schnizels. Then again, I too fear over the predictable anti-Shearer backlash and associated crap.

But after careful consideration, I don't care that others slate Al. WE know just how good he is, and how much the Germans will be thanking their lucky stars that he'll not be their nemesis again.

I share your Dyer anxieties.

If Ingerland win it'll be "well we didn't need Shearer anyway" and if they lose he'll get blamed for leaving them in the lurch. The guy can't win.

I hope they get stuffed. Watching the press beating their chests and pulling their hair out always amuses me and John Motson sobbing and wailing is so much more palatable than listening to his jingoistic nonesense about how football somehow proves the racial superiority of the English. Bunch of twats. Wish them nothing but ulcers and cold, lonely deaths :-)

Call me old fashioned, patriotic, or just a *&%$, but I want England to win. Always did and always will.

To be honest, the Shearer story is a thing of the past. He has nowt to prove for England and his sole responsibility now os to do the biz for NUFC. If he fails at that, then he deserves any criticism levelled at him. If he succeeds (and I'm sure he will), then tough. Any mention of him leaving England in the lurch can be stuffed up the journos (prolific) @rses. With the stick he has been given in the past, he has every right to say "up yours". His paymasters are NUFC. That i s where his only allegiance is.

Will somebody please help me down from this soap box? I don't like heights.

Of course I want England to win, I really hope we stuff the Germans and look forward to reading all the tabloids after the glorious victory over the old enemy.

Lot bothered if Cole, Neville and Beckham all score, they are just keeping older and England regulars.the team ticking over till the toon trio of Dyer, Lua Lua and Griffin are a bit

That didn't come out right did it? what it should have said was

Not bothered if Cole, Neville and Beckham all score, they are just keeping the team ticking over till the toon trio of Dyer, Lua Lua and Griffin are a bit older and first team regulars

I can't understand what's wrong with having some pride in the national team, and taking the piss out of the germans. Next some of you will be saying lets be nice to the maKems, as it's politically incorect to slag them off.

-- Anonymous, October 03, 2000

Lua(2) is Zairean.

-- Anonymous, October 03, 2000

Well said (if not well typed) Rik. Is it only us middle-aged folks who still have pride in out National side? God Save the Queen.

Here's another TOG who will be cheering for Engerlund against the Gormans, whoever is playing, and I for one want to see us playing in the next WC.
As Screacher says, all this Shearer sh*t is now passe, even if the Press keep raking over the coals.
In the Journal this morning Rob Lee is strongly advocating YKD for KK's team on the strength of his "outstanding form" for the Toon so far!!!
Is RL correct, is this just some sad journo dreaming up a story after Rob had actually told him he hoped Kieron made the team, or have we simply become overly critical of Dyer?
IMO he's been very disappointing this season, and on the strength of his Club form can't expect better than a place on the bench. Are we off beam here?

Hey Clarky.....careful refering to TOG's there old son.....people will start to work out your listening habits!

Echo the sentiments though, There are three things in football that I always want to see happen......I always want the Toon to win, I always want England to win and I always want to see the Makems get stuffed.

I want England to give the Krauts a good slap on Saturday and I don't mind who scores, Cole-Heskey-Beckham- Scholes.

Bobby, Lua lua could play for England, although born in Zaire he has British citizenship and faced with the option of playing for Zaire or England I think he would chose England. The same goes for Shola Ameobi, OK so it's a bit early to be touting them as future England players but we could end up with two (make that 3 I forgot Choppra)Newcastle strikers playing for England in GERMANY in 6 years time.

Ken, Phillips is unlikely to get on the pitch on Saturday, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. i ALSO HEAR THAT A DEAL TO TAKE HIM TO CHELSEA IS IMMINENT.

-- Anonymous, October 03, 2000

I hope you are right about him not getting onto the pitch on Saturday.....I couldn't stand the crowing of the Mackems if he ever gets a full game......as far as an imminent move to Chelsea is concerned.....I'm sorry but that is complete and utter pie in the sky.........for a start he speaks English!

Aye Clarky. I saw that article this morning. Made me wonder about my judgement. I've seen LKD quite a few times this season (probably more than Rob Lee!) and I have to say I don't think he's playing international form. Of course, if Scholes is "injured", then a(n adopted) Geordie would be willing to step into the breach. Rather him than Parlour, eh?

-- Anonymous, October 03, 2000

Lua can play for about 6 countries but has selected , if selected, England. Bit odd when he could play for France.

-- Anonymous, October 03, 2000

Why on earth is that strange Dougal? he's lived in England for quite a number of years and obviously feels that England is his home....

-- Anonymous, October 03, 2000

It was said slightly tongue in cheek, Gav (ie. he'd get more medals playing for France).

-- Anonymous, October 03, 2000

Here in `sunny` Bournemouth - we are 100 per cent behind England!!!

Sorry if it goes against the grain - but there you go! (:o)

Newcastle 1st Newcastle Res 2nd England 3rd . . . Sunderland nth where n is infinity+ a bit.

Josh
Great minds think alike - except the makkems(ptuh) ain't even on my list.

As for the Numchin, it's a split personality thing with me. He's not the Munchkin when he's playing for Ingerland'.

Having a bunch of dumshit makkems crowing is just one of those 'make the most of it, assholes', cos when he leaves, the sad b******s will hate hime as much as everybody else, barring the fans of the club he goes to.

In fact I'd quite enjoy him having a blinder against the krowts and then being transferred somewhere else next Monday.

People's Republic of Northumbria over England any time. Very mixed feelings re Team England. It IS a focus for a lot of right- wing nutters ETC. On the other hand, I can get carried way in a big tournament and I always like to see us beating the old enemies. Does anyone like to see the Scots doing well? I only ask because of our close connections to them.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2000

ps. I'm sorry to admit that it pains me to see Scholes scoring. I hate him. Really hate him. The Munchkin isn't a Makem anyway and that's what really grieves them - Lord Al is a Geordie, Superkev is a gloryhunting Arsenal fan from Hertfordshire.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2000

SCOTLAND??? Rate only marginally ahead of the mackems for my favours!

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2000

Well, like it or not, we have far greater cultural and historical ties with Scotland than we do England. Slightly off the point but a Man City fan said to me the other day "Geordies? That's what happened when a Scot f...d a pig". The charm of some people...

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2000

I thought people from Bournmouthcestershire were French!

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2000

Dougal, Tyneside obviously has strong links with Scotland not least because it gave employment to many from the Border Region and beyond. But it has definite distinctions historically too. Personally, most of my 'Geordie' relatives were Scottish in origin. But i've seen it convincingly claimed that the Newcastle-Tyneside area is originally specifically Angle in origin - not celtic, or pict, or viking or norman or even saxon. But's it's easy, I suppose, to use history to try and justify insularity.

>>"Geordies? That's what happened when a Scot f...d a pig"<<

Is that "found"?
