Australia: Experts assess oil spill damage

Experts have flown to the Torres Strait to assess the damage from a large fuel spill on Horn Island.

About 50,000 litres of diesel fuel spilt from a storage facility last Thursday night and authorities are still cleaning up the site.

Most of the fuel spilt on to land, but there is concern for nearby mangroves, which could be killed by the oil.

District manager for the Environmental Protection Agency, Nicole Buchanski, says the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) will continue working on the site for some time after the initial clean up.
