I didn't think I was one for closing ceremonies but todays event was rather good. (after the speeches and stupid priestess thing). I particully liked the compelations of all the achievemnentsof the British (and other) athletes that were screened before the ceremony by the BBC, and thought that many of the "acts" summed up AUSTRALIA really well. There was a good mix of performances in the closing ceremony. Just wish i understood the Electric lawnmower joke....

Cue...... Loony toon

INXS, Kylie, Paul Hogan (That's Crocodile Dundee for those who have forgotten him) Greg Norman, Elle MacPhereson and a bloke singing Waltzing Matilda..........yeah...sums up Australia really well......

Where were the legends....Dame Edna, Rolf, the Cast of Neighbours.....now that would have been class......

Joking aside.....yea they were attempts at jokes......it was a pretty good all round ceremony and the firwaorks at the end were out of this world.......Sydney will stink of cordite for a week........I loved the way they blew up the Olympic rings on the bridge at the end......

Come on all you Sydney based Oz Toons......lets have some first hand reports of what it was like to sit underneath 2 million Australian dollars worth of fireworks.....the noise must have been enough to wake the dead..........mind you, rumour has it that Clive James managed to sleep through it!

Dame Edna was first on the list but refused because of prior commitments in the USA.

Rolf would have been good though!

" tie me Kangaroo down sport "

Rik- The lawnmower joke was..........?The priestess thingy was a Greek input( looks like it's going to be a bundle of laughs over there)

Kylie was a absolute doll as always
