Shearer to get coaching qualification

According to Teamtalk, "Alan Shearer is to undertake the FA's new compulsory coaching course as he looks towards a future in management.
The FA have decided that all coaches and managers must be fully qualified to a standard acceptable to their rules and Shearer is planning to put the time in to get his full advanced coaching badge that will allow him to become a manager.
It is known that Newcastle have earmarked Shearer to take over from Bobby Robson when he finally decides to call it a day. Shearer has signed a four year contract at St. James and although there is nothing written into the deal, it has been said that there will be a managerial role for him at the end of that.
The club are trying to ensure there is a long term managerial policy in place and there is a smooth transition between the men in charge of the senior side. Shearer will be made aware of Bobby Robson's transfer policy and will be invited to give his own input. He will help the current management team on the training ground next season and everything is geared towards Shearer having a squad of players he is happy with when he eventually takes sole charge of first team affairs."

I'd rather he just concentrate on scoring goals right now ;-))

OK - I suppose he does have some spare time, and it can't be too nice on the golf course all afternoon in winter. Gan on Alan, me dad aalways said it was good to have qualifications. Sets you up for a good job with canny pay. He was right as well.

I'm sure it would be better for Shearer to do some managing at a lower division club first. However, it has to be better for NUFC to have a manager who appreciates the talents of the players already at the club (like KD did at Liverpool when he was in charge).

Since Keegan left we've stumbled from manager to manager and from one set of players to another which has cost the club dear in transfer fees.

Imagine for an instant who we could have brought in instead of Dalglish's and Gullit's wastrel buys.
