ACUNA FEELS MOVE IS IMMINENT by Ciaran Baynes

CLARENCE ACUNA has reiterated his belief that his protracted switch to Newcastle will go through in the near future. The Chilean midfielder's switch to the North East had been in danger of falling through due to the player's representative attempting to secure a higher transfer fee from The Magpies, but these problems seemed to have been ironed out.

Acuna, 25, who is valued at around #700,000 by Universidad of Chile said on Wednesday: "I am ready to travel back to Newcastle.

"I know I need to sort out a work permit but my understanding is that Newcastle have applied for one for me."

A work permit should not be a problem for Acuna who is a regular for the Chilean national squad.
