Dancer in the Dark was just so very sad, it really broke my heart. What has made you cry lately?

Oddly enough Almost Famous made me cry....I'm a sucker for the unrequited crush/love story, so I felt for the little guy.

For a very non-sports-ceric person, I am slightly stunned by the two latest moved to tears moments. First, when the Australian women's double won the Gold in the Beach Volleyball, not as they won it, but later, when they played the Australian National Anthem at the award ceremony, I got quite weepy.

Second was earlier today when I saw the main Australian contender in the 20KM walk dsiqualified 150m from the finish line, she was on the ramp to the Stadium and she got her third red card for not keeping contact with the ground. As the official pulled up to her, you could just see her face crumple, and the words, "No No, not me, not here!". She couldn't find any of her team, her coaches and was just running around through the entrance and the stadium utterly shattered. I wept for her, just completely shattering for her.

The latest form letter I received from the ASPCA had me bawling for two days last week. ASPCA reps discovered a Doberman, named Astro, who was deliberately being starved to death by its owner. When they approached Astro, whose belly was swollen and ribs were protruding, he was chained up and horribly weak from no food/water. The mud puddle that had been providing some water for him had dried up and he had, likely, only a couple of days left to live. Astro used his last ounce of strength to wag its tail at the reps when they approached, as if to say, "Welcome" or "Please help".

Before I stopped reading - I HAD to stop - there were assorted stories about truly sick people who bury kittens alive for amusement.

What a world.

I want to write to the ASPCA and PETA and the other animal cruelty places and say "Here, I'll send you all the money I can, just PLEASE don't send me those stories anymore. I'm good, I have 5 cats from various shelters and states of abandonment, they're all collared and neutered and well fed, I even feed one of the local strays at my back door, Please Stop Making Me Cry!!". I mean, I believe in their cause, I really do, but I am so not the audience to aim these stories at, I just end up depressed and weeping buckets and feeling guilty because I only have 5 cats..

it has become apparent that to much fat and salt, not enough exercize and fruit or vegatables are conspiring to break my heart.
