Mission/Vission Statements

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread

We are in the process of putting together Mission & Vission statements as well as goal setting for the future.

I am interested in seeing some of your churches statements. I think we have decided that we want our mission statement to be a simple 1 or 2 sentence statement that is easy for everyone to remember.

Anything you can offer would be greatly appriciated.

Your wanting it to be short and simple is right on track. There is a guy in our area that helps companies streamline their vision statements who told me the best purpose statement ever made was from Pepsi Cola in the early eighties when they went on a full attack against Coke. Their statement was simple and to the point..."Kill Coke."

Here at our church we did this last year and settled on a purpose statement that we affectionately call the Five "C's" of the Fort. They are:

Christians Committed to Completing Christ's Commands.

This is our vision statement.

How about That in all things Christ may have the pre-eminence

Each year I adopt a new missions statement. This year it comes from 1 Cor. 11.1: "Even as I am of Christ." I use the Greek phrase, much more pleasant, kathos kago Christou.
