A movie I liked

I saw a good movie on Bravo last nite called "Cross Creek". It was made in 1983 but I had never heard of it. It was the story of author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings who wrote "The Yearling". She was an independent young woman who left a cosmopolitan life and moved to rural Florida, BAC (before air conditioning). In the course of this move she discovered her author's voice, friends, love, a sense of place and a love of nature.

I found it fascinating and beautiful. I think it will be on Bravo all this week. Stars Mary Steenburgen, Rip Torn, Alfre Woodard. Malcom McDowall.

Lars, one Christmas (in the 40s) my Dad and we two very small boys gave my Mom "Cross Creek Cookery" by that author. Some of the best recipies ever, including black bottom pie, which my Mom still makes.

A movie I really liked, but no one has heard of was Quick Change with Bill Murray, Geena Davis, and Randy Quaid. If you get a chance to rent it, be on the lookout for the 2 Mexicans on Bicycles scene (absolutely hilarious).
