I am allergic to some cats. but i was talking to someone and he told me to get a maine coon because most people that are allergic to cats dont have any reaction to maine coon's. Can you tell me if this is true or not. Beacause i am a single person and my building wont let me get a dog so i want a cat. But i dont want to get sick please help me with info.

Not true on the allergy issue--my niece's boyfriend is NOT bothered by two of my "regular" cats; but is allergic to my Maine Coon. So, each individual differs. If you could, visit a Maine Coon cattery and see for yourself. There's not one cat that is "allergy-proof!" (except for the breed with no hair!) My husband tested to be allergic to cats, and like I said, we have three of them. He just takes claritin-D everyday and is fine. Good luck!
