Stuck FTbn

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

Can an FTb owner please help me out? Something happened to my FTbn while a friend was using it: the aperture needle disappeared. I have the camera back again, and I've fiddled with every knob and lever on the camera and lens (an FD 50mm f/1.4 SSC), removed the lens, changed to a different FD lens, checked the battery, replaced the battery, rewound and removed the film, and checked the online instructions, all with no luck. I miss my aperture needle :-( Can someone tell me what happened and how to straighten it out?

Thanks, Larry

What about the stop-down lever (built into self-timer) or had you already thought of that?

Larry,

Are you referring to the straight meter needle or the lollipop shaped follower needle?

It's the "lollipop" that has disappeared. I have tried pressing the stop-down lever in and out. The lens does stop down, but the lollipop stays hidden.

Larry,

Sounds like it's time for a trip to the shop for your FTb.
