I would love to meet Hobbits, and be invited over to the Shire for dinner too. :) Sounds like they eat better than I do.

Without a doubt, the characters in Lord Of The Rings, the good ones that is. I would like to meet them all and live in their land as I did in the 60's when working a job was the story and the books were the reality.

>>Certainly I'd love to make a few real people fictional---maybe I could get to like them then. Jerry Falwell, or Saddam Hussein, or Congressman Bob Barr...maybe they'd be more likable as fictional characters.<<

I doubt it! Except for the relief of knowing how impossible it would be to actually find such people in real life.

I'd like to meet Kay Scarpetta. I haven't a clue why. Except I really like Patricia Cornwell's books and Scarpetta would be an interesting character to meet. Maybe she needs a medical transcriptionist...

I'd like to shake the hand of Atticus Finch.

Phil Conners, the Bill Murray role in Groundhog Day the movie. He has had the unique experience of reliving the same day 30+ times, learning from his mistakes in a targeted manner unavailable to us time-bound mortals. More than meeting Phil, though, I'd like a Groundhog Day of my own.
