Charlton pre-match meet

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

As I'm making the extra special effort to Jonah the Lads into losing tomorrow, I thought I might take the opportunity of annoying some of you lot for a pre-game bevvie or 6.

Are the Newcastle based BBSers still going to Inventions beforehand(ok, "Bar Oz" if you must...) and Strawberry afters?

I'll meet you at Kings Cross at 8am....be careful getting there mate cos the tube's aren't stopping so it might be wise to go to Euston and then either walk/cab round...

Looking forward to finally meeting the elusive Phileas Fogg (aka Swift) ;))

The wife has volunteered to give me a lift into Kings Cross tomorrow! You see, yer bird has got to know her place in life. Treat 'em mean and keep 'em keen...eh, Sting ;-)

How was the Peace Conference? Did she turn up armed to the teeth?

Bobby,

Strawberry before and after the game!

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Bobster - we usually meet in the Straabeery before and after for EPL games. Bar Oz is a cup pub.

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

>>"Bar Oz is a cup pub"

Be fair, it's not that bad...oh...I see...'CUP' pub...

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Chin up Sting - hopefully this `sacrifice` will stand you in good stead for future games! BTW I meant to ask you, your good lady didn`t throw something at you did she? I just wondered if it might have accounted for the unidentified object that hit M16! (:o)

Divvn't fret Sting....I'll text you regular updates and I'll have a beer or two for you a well....

Dunno about going into the Strawbeery before the match (it's a dive!)....I'll pop in and see you all afterwards though....

wor lass asked us to do a favour last night (no not that sort - always a pleasure..never a chore favour), which I agreed to on condition that I go to Leyton Orient next week - which in my book makes me a winner.
Sorry for adding this to the Charlton meet-up thread, but it's the only thread I've seen this morning with Sting baiting on it.

Just in from BBC News 42

"London Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector Plodde has announced that a major discovery has been uncovered in tracing the perpetrators of Thursday's missile attack on the MI6 not-so-top secret headquaters.

In a hastily worded broadcast, Inspector Knacker said 'We believe we've made a breakthrough in the recent attack on this here building behind me, which is definitely not a top secret place full of spies...oh no.

It appears the device was man-made. In fact, it is part of a man. We believe it's a left testicle. Forensic have said they believe it may have belonged to a Newcastle United fan, due to its size.'

Police are now searching East London for a lad who's had a major barny with his missus."<<

Concession number 5 has just been made in order to retain soome kind of order . Ive just bought a new car and insured her on it for the first time she will be able to drive one of my cars . It may seem mad but of course works to my advantgae .. i can go places and get pissed and she will WANT to drive home as thats the only bliddy time ill let her . It also makes me look kind , genuine and sharing .. ill get to Man City next Saturday if it kills me : - ))

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

You manipulating, coniving little get! ;-)

Nice one :-))

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

ill get to Man City next Saturday if it kills me Not a very nice thing to call you r lass. I'm sure she'll be very happy to know you call her 'it'

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Sorry Sting - I think you lady will see straight through the car thing - just too transparent (unless, of course, she has a brain smaller than a frog`s - and I suspect that is not the case)! Better get some tyres fitted along the body panels, `cos when you`re taking the train to away matches, your girlfriend will be doing battle with the London traffic on a consolation shopping marathon - could be expensive in more ways than one!(:o)

Having one of the bairns in tow, I,ve been going to the bar in the leazers end before the game for a beer or two. Where are you lads sitting?

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Rik, I'm in J91 (I think!) in the SJH/Milburn corner just above where the old Sky box was (not the top tier tho). Where are you and the bairn sitting??

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Alas I will not be there tomorrow. We will probably win 10-0 and I got offered a lift as well! :o(

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Bliddy part timers. If I hadn't seen the photos, I might have tought you were Sting's lass ;-))

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

I may not make the Strawberry tomorrow but will be delighted to see everyone if I do.

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

I have a late wedding to go to.....6pm saturday night. Hell even flying I wouldn't be able to make it back in time sob sob!

Will be around for the web cast mind. Then I have to leg it to the 'brides' house.

It's bound to be about 10 - 0 tomorrow, I'm taking a leaf out of Sting's book and allowing my darling wife to take me walking in the N.Yorks dales tomorrow and Sunday.

Should never have agreed to it without checking the fixture list first. What a dork.

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

It's about bleeding time we stuffed someone.

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Funny that. I never could tell a Dork from a Nutter. Enjoy your walk PB. I hear the weather is due to be unusually clement.

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Not gonna belief this ive just met Bobby and given him me tix for tomorras match and whilst on the train to pick up the keys for me new motor ( 'Ello John ) Bobby mentions that he has the tickets for Tuesdays nights match ... ahh i says who's playing on Tuesday ? we are ... and ive telt the missus' im out with clients on Wednesday .. this goes from bad to worse , Dork is not the word here Bill , i shouldve checked the bliddy fixture list , what a Toazer . Good news however it looks like ive talked 'er indoors into going to Manc next w.e hehehehe : - )) Now if i see any of yer next week and you mention i was at Orient ill kill yer .. So the good news is she's coming to the match , and i dont know how to feel about that : - ))

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Hohohohoho! That's just classic Sting. Look on the bright side. You've got a passout for Wednesday and you're bound to get an urgent call from your boss to put in some extra effort with a new client on Tuesday. He'll probably give you an award for your efforts - we usually get a "Dinner for Two" or something similar. I'm sure "her indoors" needn't know it's you that's paying for it!

I'm really looking forward to the match at Maine Road nexte w/e, especially as I know your missus is coming along too. I'll be on my best behaviour - honest.

IS Kings Cross still closed of tubes?

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Kings Cross was still closed this morning and I reckon it'll still be closed tomorrow...

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Sting I thought your lass was stateside? If you want I can keep her busy over her it you need to gan to the match like

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Nahh mate at the mo i wish she was , shell be back in December tho for a couple of weeks and divvent fret the matches are already pre booked : - )) Does anyone else have this kind of pressure ? I can feel my wallet getting lighter as the weekend gets closer : - (

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

If it was only my wallet gettin' lighter it wouldn't be a problem, trouble is she is draining the very life out of me. It's gettin' harder and harder to be a fan of our beloved toon, gotta lie, avoid phone calls, work to obtain further brownie points by doing more stuff for them none believers. And all for what, so we can get by shite like southampton.

-- Anonymous, September 22, 2000

Screacher, I'm right in the centre of the SJH stand. Midway between the sportsbar and the family enclosure.(N73 /74) look for the TV camera below the overhang and count about 10 rows down, you can't miss me I'll be the one wearing the black and white stripey shirt. I've been getting into the bar in the centre of the Leazers end about an hour before kick off, It's a lot less congested than the Strawberry. Not sure if the guards will let you sneak accross from the corners to the middle of the stand though.

BTW did you see that posting on my toonworld site about a N West Mags club starting up for those living in Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside? From a lad called simon?

Beardo & Gav

Tubes at Kings Cross are not all effected, depends on which line. Hammersmith & S**ty was ok today, and Metropolitan was fine too.

Check out London Underground's homepage for more info

Christ, I've turned into a f**king helpdesk!
