pc_drmro is way to slow

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Just wondering how Dr. Mario (if anyone plays this game) runs on everyones system. I can't believe that the running this game which isnt' even 100k total runs like crap on my P233. I have plenty of memory left and even toying around with frame skipping it still runs like crap. If I play the High level which is the hardest level of the 3 the capsules come out of the top of the jar and will dissappear for a sec and reappear lower in a different spot making it really hard to place the corrisponding capsule. Is anyone experiencing this problem? In the arcade, I was able to get 899,000 on a med. setting and in MAME I'm having a hard time breaking 50k.

Regards, Steve Krogman

PS I'm wondering how come no one hasn't turned in a score yet for this game. I could be the first but I'm waiting till it's more close to the arcade speed.

Yeah - all PC-10 games have a speed problem. I think you need at least a 450 mhz in some capacity to run it at full speed 0 frameskip. Sorta sad huh? I'm hoping there will be a speed improvement in the near future - because I am looking forward to watching a great Dr. Mario recording. GB9
