Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that United are interested in their Scottish international defender Christian Dailly.

The Chronicle revealed on Saturday night that United had watched the former Derby County defender when he came on as substitute in Friday's night's Nationwide Division One game at Sheffield United.

And Blackburn chief executive John Williams said today: "I understand that there has been further dialogue between the two managers.

"But I suspect that there are a number of options open to Newcastle United and they are weighing them up."

One of those options is the 6ft 7in Trinidad international central defender Dennis Lawrence who is currently on trial with United.

Lawrence continues to impress at United's training ground at Chester-le-Street and he would certainly cost a lot less than Dailly. But the question remains......do we want him....thoughts.......

No. Not miles better than anything we have at the minute so no point in buying him. I'd rather one of the Caldwells got the opportunity.
