Over half the tickets SOLD ALREADY

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Hury, hurry hurry, Over half the tickets for the Worthycup game have been sold already. Looks like ther'll only be 20,000 spare tickets for the Leyton Orient game, so better be quick lads and lasses.

BTW Am I the only part time fan on here that won't be going?

I won't be going and I won't even be listening to it on the webcast. I'm a light weight!

Massive :-)

I'm going. And wasting a day's holiday in the process. I'LL deserve a ticket if we get to the Final ((-:

I'm going so don't any of you part-timers come crying to me when you can't get tickets for the final! ;-)

Friday I realised I missed the deadline so I rang the box office about 40 times before I got through to ask "Will I be able to get my seats ?". The girl said "They go on general sale tomorrow so call then and you will probably get your own seats".
I rang Saturday quoting my seat nos but the girl said I would not get my seats but I would get somewhere near them. I told her of my conversation with her colleague - she went a way for a minute then came back and told me they would try but couldn't promise.

So it looks bad for me for Wembley tickets (c;

Im a poof too , im not going , shame on me i knaa ; - (

By contrast, the Orient told me that away fans' can expect to pretty much get as many as they like.

I'm going, my ticket arrived on Friday.

I think that 25-26,000 BEFORE general sale is very good for Leyton Orient at home, some EPL teams would be chuffed with that for a home league game. When you compare that with the gate the Mackems got last year against Wallsall ( 14,000 ) when tickets were just #10 and #5 for kids then it looks even better. No wonder they're giving their tickets away this season. I estimate a gate of about 35,000 at SJP on Wednesday.

Bobby,
Given that Orient get around 3500 for home games they could easily fit their entire crowd into the normal away section. As it's a cup game they are entitled to ask for a much larger number of tickets but I can'r see that being necessary.
This is going to be the first test to see if the new larger stadium is like a morgue when half empty.

Can't afford it. The reality of this hurts.

Well, we're back to how sensible (choke) the Makems have been, flogging tickets off at #5 for adults, #1 for kids. What are NUFC thinking of?

-- Anonymous, September 18, 2000

It means we will raise twice their revenue with half as many showing up even if they sell out (which they won't). They only need to buy a jumbo bag of peanuts for wages, whilst we will probably raise enough to pay Shearer's wages for 10 weeks.

I'm on Dougal's side in this one. I think SJP should be full for every match but as TGJ points out, shear economics prevent many attending. I'll be surprised if there are more than 30,000 on Wednesday. OK, not a bad number but it still means 22,000 empty seats. Hopefully, they have been sensible enough (!) to close the top tier of the Milburn and SJH stands. But that would be far to difficult for them to do. They could sell the top tier at #5 & #10 for accompanied kids allowing youngsters who never get a chance to see NUFC and make even more money. Oh well, there I go, living in cloud cuckoo land.

I went and bought a ticket today and they allocated me "the best available seat" without offering me a choice. Presumably they are intending to leave the extensions closed...just have to pay stewards and burger sellers for nothing otherwise.

My feeling is that if you charge people nothing for something they simply don't value it. Sad fact of life. Hopefully less people who definitely want to be there will make a damn sight more noise than we've had recently. Let's here no more about the "disenfranchised United fans".

It's not just the money - it's the goodwill and the bairns.. If I were Freddies, I'd put an ad in the Ronnie tomorrow, offering tickets to families for a TENNER (TWO ADULTS, TWO BAIRNS).

Dougal - you'll have to bliddy quick if you want to take advantage of a "family for a tenner" offer. Somehow, I think nature would be againsgt you - even adoption takes a bit longer than that ;-))

Last season, we didn't get a home Worthington fixture but did have to shell out for three European home games... Although even FC Zurich probably have more appeal than Leyton Orient.

Screach, I take it you're up for Charlton? I'm coming up on Friday in the hope of getting some kip so I'm not such an exhausted, weepy wreck on Saturday...
