Hello Stavros! APX 100 in Rodinal gives high contrast, so it can be a good idea to expose 1/3 or a 1/2 stop more and shorten the developing time a little.

I use to expose APX 25 at 12 Asa and shorten the dev. time with 25% and the results are stunning!

most people I know using Rodinal dilute a lot more.. 1:50 and 1:100.

Yes, but you will get larger grain and have to develop longer times.

so why do they do it?

Better acutance, sharper results.

...and larger grain, fwiw. But in MF that won't be a problem. If you dilute 1:100, make sure there is enough stock solution. I am in the habit now of using 1L of liquid for each roll of film developed at 1:100.

My favorite combination is APX100 with Rodinal 1+75 at 20B0C, during 15 minutes. Agitation during the first 30 seconds, then every minute. This is for 35mm film with a focomat condenser enlarger. The recomandations from Agfa are giving me very contrasty negatives, even too contrasty for my colour enlarger. Greetings, Frederik
